Isuzu is headquartered in Tokyo. It not only produces commercial vehicles but also manufactures diesel engines. Its business involves the production, marketing, and sale of cars and engines. The brand was established in 1916. In 1949, this company used the name "Isuzu". It was named after a river. The CP was its first truck. But only in the postwar years, did its trucks become hot. People used them to move food and other necessities in the reconstruction work of Japan. In the 1960s, it invented a series of passenger cars: Florian, the Bellett, and the 117 Coupe, the WASP. And in 1971, it cooperated with General Motors. The Gemini was the first product of this partnership.

In the 1980s, it started to open the American market. The Trooper gained popularity there. Since then, two- or four-door SUVs became the mode. The 1990s saw high growth in sales of Isuzu. Luxury and big-size SUVs attracted much attention from the public. In 1999, GM became a major shareholder in Isuzu. In 2004, Mimamori-kun was invented. It offers vehicle telematics service. In the beginning, only governments use it to record drivers' activities. But now, it can also be used by individuals to record families' tracks. However, in the 2000s, Isuzu gradually lagged behind newer competitors. And now, it has only two kinds of cars: trucks and SUVs. These cars were not self-designed but jointly owned by Isuzu and GM.
