You need to remove the power supply fuse, lift the front cover of the receptacle, insert the J 42059 into the receptacle sleeve, hold the plastic ring in place, pull the receptacle out of the assembly to remove the outlet and remove the electrical connector from the socket.

It is not unusual for some codes to be shared across systems. For instance, there may be Transmission Codes under Engine Control Codes for purposes of diagnosis.

If J 42059 tool fails to release the power port/lighter socket from the retainer, you should insert a small grinding tool with a cutoff wheel into the socket, remove the plastic latches in the 3 mm (0.11 in) square windows, and use the J 42059 as directed above to remove the socket.
