You need to place a new Exhaust Manifold gasket onto the cylinder head, and position the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head. Then you need to apply thread lock GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the exhaust manifold bolt threads and install the exhaust manifold bolts. After that, you need to tighten the exhaust manifold bolts and install the exhaust manifold heat shield. Finally, you need to install the exhaust seal.

You need to insert the Muffler over the rear axle until the flange is near the catalytic converter and rotate the muffler clockwise 90 degrees to the installed position. Finally, you need to slide the muffler forward into position, aligning the studs with the rear of the catalytic converter.

You need to remove the air cleaner outlet duct and the air cleaner assembly. Then you need to remove the transmission filler tube bracket nut from the AIR adapter and position it aside if your vehicle is equipped with M30, and you need to remove the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) from the exhaust manifold. Finally, you need to remove the 3 nuts securing the heat shield to the exhaust manifold, then you can remove the exhaust manifold heat shield from the exhaust manifold.
