2010 GMC Canyon Brake Drum

You need to prepare a J-42450-A-Wheel Hub Resurfacing Kit.

You need to raise and support the vehicle and remove the tire and wheel assembly. Then you need to remove and discard the brake drum retainers. After that, you need to remove the brake drum. Finally, you need to clean the brake drum and rear axle flange mating surfaces of any accumulated dirt or corrosion.

You need to adjust the rear drum brakes and install the brake drum. Finally, you need to install the tire and wheel assembly.

You need to prepare a J 41013 Rotor Resurfacing Kit.

You need to use a micrometer to measure the largest diameter of the brake drum. Then you need to thoroughly clean the rust from the brake drum flange. After that, you need to refinish the brake drum and use 120-grit aluminum oxide sandpaper to create a non-directional braking surface. Finally, you need to clean the braking surfaces with GM P/N 12377981 (Canadian P/N 10953463) or equivalent brake parts cleaner.
