Q: How do you install the engine front cover?
A:
You can install a new CMP actuator magnet gasket onto the magnet and the CMP actuator magnet and bolts, lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil, install the CMP sensor, position the CMP sensor wire harness to the front cover, connect the CMP sensor wire harness to the CMP sensor, install the CMP sensor wire harness bolts, apply a 5 mm (0.20 in) bead of sealant, 20 mm (0.80 in) long to the oil pan to engine block junction, position the new engine front cover gasket and front cover to the engine, install the front cover bolts and the oil pan-to-front cover bolts until snug and the oil pan-to-front cover bolts, align the tapered legs of the J 41476 with the machined alignment surfaces on the front cover, install the crankshaft balancer bolt, remove the J 41476, connect the engine harness electrical connector to the CMP sensor wire harness electrical connector, and then install a new crankshaft front oil seal, the crankshaft balancer and the water pump.

Q: What is the removal procedure for the engine front cover?
A:
The procedure is to remove the water pump and the crankshaft balancer, disconnect the engine harness electrical connector from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor wire harness electrical connector, remove the oil pan-to-front cover bolts, the front cover bolts, and the front cover and gasket, discard the front cover gasket, remove the crankshaft front oil seal and the CMP sensor wire harness bolts, disconnect the CMP sensor wire harness from the CMP sensor, and then remove the CMP sensor wire harness, the CMP sensor, the CMP actuator magnet bolts, magnet, and the CMP actuator magnet gasket.
