The proper way is to install the CMP actuator magnet and bolts, install the CMP sensor, install the CMP sensor wire harness bolts, install the front cover bolts until snug, and then install the water pump.

Q: What is the removal procedure for the engine front cover?
A:
The procedure is to remove the water pump, remove the crankshaft balancer, remove the oil pan-to-front cover bolts, remove the front cover bolts, remove the crankshaft front oil seal, remove the CMP sensor wire harness, and then remove and discard the CMP actuator magnet gasket.
