2009 Chevrolet Equinox Shock Absorber

First, make an indentation 10 mm from the bottom of the tube using a center punch and clamp the shock absorber in a vise horizontally with the shock absorber rod. Next drill a hole in the shock absorber at the center punch using a 5 mm drill bit, make an indentation in the middle of the tube with a center punch and drill the second hole in the shock absorber. Finally, remove the shock absorber from the vise.

Install the hollow bumper and dust boot to the strut shaft, install the strut into the spring and install the strut shaft nut. Tighten the strut shaft to 55 Nm.

Install the 3 upper strut mount bolts and tighten to 25 Nm. Next, install the lower strut bolts/nuts and tighten them to 200 Nm. Position the stabilizer link to the strut and install the nut and tighten to 65 Nm. Finally, position the brake hose bracket to the strut assembly and install the bolt and tighten it to 15 Nm.

First position the shock to the vehicle, install the upper shock bolt, and tighten to 110 Nm. Next, install the lower shock bolt and nut and tighten to 110 Nm. Install the rear wheelhouse in the vehicle and install the wheel/tire assembly.

Clamp the strut in a vise horizontally with the rod and drill a hole in the strut at the center of the end cap using a 5 mm drill bit. Next, remove the strut from the vise and hold the strut over a drain pan vertically with the hole down. Finally, move the rod in and out of the tube.
