2009 Buick LaCrosse CV Joint

First, clamp the wheel drive shaft in a soft jawed vise, then remove the boot retaining clamp with a hand grinder. Next, remove the boot clamp with a pair of side cutters, and remove the inner tripod housing from the wheel drive shaft. Lastly, inspect the inner wheel drive shaft.

First, install the wheel drive shaft in a soft jawed vise, and remove the swage clamp from the boot. With a pair of cutters remove the outer boot clamp from the boot, and using a hammer remove the outer joint from the wheel drive shaft. Finally, remove the CV joint boot and all the grease from the CV joint and the wheel drive shaft.

Start by removing the wheel drive boot clamp, the wheel drive shaft tripod housing, and the wheel drive shaft tripod joint boot bushing. Using the correct cleaner remove excess grease.

First, install the new swage clamp and boot, install the J 41048 in a vise, and position the wheel drive shaft/boot. Install the upper die on the wheel drive shaft, tighten the bolts, remove the wheel drive shaft from J 41048, and reinstall the wheel drive shaft in the soft jawed vise. Using a hammer install the outer CV joint on the wheel drive shaft, and place half of the grease from the service kit in the CV joint/boot. Use the J 35910 with a breaker bar to tighten the clamp. Make sure to tighten the clamp to 174 Nm.

First, remove the outer constant velocity joint and boot from the wheel drive shaft. Use the J 8059 tool and remove the retaining ring from the wheel drive shaft. Install the outer CV joint assembly in a vise, and using a small screwdriver remove the ball bearings from the CV joint. Next, position the cage at 90 degrees to the centerline of the outer race, then lift and remove the cage and the inner race from the outer race. After that, rotate the cage 90 degrees to the center line of the cage, and move the inner race land into the cage window. Finally, rotate the inner race down and remove it from the cage.
