You should press and hold the open switch, release the switch, press and hold the open switch for 10 seconds or more, note that the glass panel will move further rearward of the open position, stall at the hard stop, and move back slightly to the soft stop or full-open position. Then, you should release the switch, press and hold the open switch within 6 seconds, hold the open switch and release the switch.

You should align the splines on the sunroof motor/actuator shaft with the drive gear on the sunroof module assembly, install the sunroof motor/actuator to the mounting bracket, ensuring that the sunroof motor/actuator is fully seated and the screws that retain the sunroof motor/actuator to the mounting bracket, connect the sunroof motor/actuator wiring harness electrical connector, install the tie strap retaining the sunroof motor/actuator wiring harness, press and hold the open switch until the glass panel stalls at the hard stop, release the switch, press and hold the open switch within six seconds of step 8, continue holding until the glass panel moves to the closed position and stops, release the switch and install the headliner.

You should perform the initialization/teach procedure any time a new sunroof motor actuator is installed in the vehicle. Then, you should press and hold the open switch until the glass panel stalls at the hard stop, then moves slightly forward, note that this position is called the soft stop or fully open position, then release the switch, press and hold the open switch within 6 seconds, hold the open switch until the glass panel moves to the closed position and stops and release the switch.
