2005 Buick Rainier Battery Cables

Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the off or lock position, and all electrical loads must be off before servicing any electrical component. You should disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal and failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

You should disconnect the battery negative cable and remove the bolt that secures the harness to the front wheelhouse panel, the bolt that secures the harness to the shock tower, the harness from the engine harness bracket, and the bolt that secures the harness to the engine block.

You should disconnect the battery negative cable, the battery positive cable from the battery, the positive cable lead from the junction block, and the battery cable conduit from the conduit retaining clip, remove the battery positive cable from the conduit and the battery positive cable harness from the fir-tree retainer on the powertrain control module (PCM) bracket, disconnect the positive cable lead from the starter and the positive cable lead from the generator and remove the battery positive cable from the vehicle.

You should clip the harness to the engine harness bracket, install the bolt that secures the harness to the shock tower, the bolt that secures the harness to the engine block, and the bolt securing the harness to the wheelhouse panel and connect the negative battery cable to the battery.

You should record all preset and theft codes from the radio, turn the ignition switch to the lock position, verify that all the electrical components are off such as interior lights, all doors are closed, the underhood lamp, etc, loosen the negative battery cable bolt, remove the negative battery cable from the battery and position the negative battery cable away from any body ground.
