FAQ for Exhaust Manifold Repair

Q: What should be noticed when installing the right exhaust manifold?
A:
You should tighten the exhaust manifold bolts as specified in the service procedure. Improperly installed and/or leaking exhaust manifold gaskets may affect vehicle emissions and/or On-Board Diagnostics II system performance. The cylinder head exhaust manifold bolt-hole threads must be clean and free of debris or thread-locking material. You should not apply a sealant to the first three threads of the bolt.

Q: What is the removal procedure for the right exhaust manifold?
A:
You need to remove the ignition coils and the spark plugs, raise and support the vehicle, remove the exhaust manifold pipe nuts, lower the vehicle, and remove the exhaust manifold bolts, manifold, and gasket. You also need to discard the gasket, remove the heat shield bolts, and shield, and clean and inspect the exhaust manifold.
