A:
If the muffler is not being replaced as an assembly, the band clamp must be replaced. You should mark the position of the band clamp on the intermediate exhaust pipe, remove the band clamp from the exhaust pipe, and install a new band clamp onto the exhaust pipe.

Improperly installed and/or leaking exhaust manifold gaskets may affect vehicle emissions and/or On-Board Diagnostics II system performance. The cylinder head exhaust manifold bolt-hole threads must be clean and free of debris or thread-locking material. You should not apply a sealant to the first three threads of the bolt.
