2004 Buick Rendezvous Axle Shaft Seal

The tools required include J 44809 Output Shaft Seal Installer.

You need to raise and support the vehicle, remove the left rear tire and wheel assembly, the left wheel drive shaft, and remove the differential output shaft oil seal.

You should install the left axle shaft oil seal, lubricate the wheel drive shaft sealing surface of the oil seal with synthetic gear oil GM P/N United States 12378514 Canada P/N 88901045 or equivalent, then install the left wheel drive shaft and the left rear tire and wheel assembly, inspect the differential lubricant level, finally lower the vehicle.

You should lubricate the lip of the axle shaft oil seal with automatic transaxle fluid, install the axle shaft oil seal to the transfer case, install the right front wheel drive shaft, install the right front tire and wheel assembly, lower the vehicle, and inspect the transaxle fluid level, and inspect for fluid leaks.

You need to raise and support the vehicle, remove the right front tire and wheel assembly, and remove the right front wheel drive shaft, then remove the axle shaft oil seal from the transfer case.
