The proper way is to install the hot water flow control valve and the following hot water flow control valve components: the hoses, the hose clamps, and the vacuum hose. Then install the access panel and the access panel nut until fully seated and not stripped and fill the cooling system.

You need to drain the engine coolant and remove the hose clamps from the outlet pipe and from the inlet pipe, the heater inlet pipe and the outlet pipe from the bypass valves, the bolts that retain the valves to the heater assembly, and the bypass valves from the heater assembly.

You need to drain the cooling system and remove the access panel nut near the pollen filter, the access panel, and the following components from the hot water flow control valve: the vacuum hose, the remaining hose clamps, and the remaining hoses. Then remove the hot water flow control valve.

You need to install the bypass valves to the heater assembly, the bolts that retain the valves to the heater assembly, the heater inlet pipe, and the outlet pipe to the bypass valves. Then install the hose clamps and fill the cooling system. Ensure that no leaks exist in the cooling system.
