About Cadillac Escalade
The Cadillac Escalade is a luxury SUV designed and manufactured by General Motors. The Escalade design went into production just ten months after approval. The Cadillac Escalade is manufactured in Arlington, Texas. The word "Escalade" refers to the tactic of siege warfare. It means the defensive walls or ramparts built with ladders or siege towers. The Cadillac Escalade is currently sold in North America and in some international markets. The Escalade ESV is sold in North America, Russia, and the Middle East. But it can only be ordered in select international markets. The ESV on the right is available in Australia, Oceania, and Japan through third-party modifications.
The first-generation Cadillac Escalade was available as a one-off and came with full standard equipment with some options available upon request. Standard equipment included hexagonal chrome alloy wheels, front and rear bumpers, and colored side panels. The only colors offered as standard were Sand Silver, Sable Black, Aspen White, and Bordeaux Red Pearl. Yukon Denali Silver Mist Metallic, Spruce Green, Emerald Green Metallic, Onyx Black, and Dark Toreador Red Metallic were the standard colors. Unlike the Chevrolet and GMC models that entered production for 2000, the Cadillac Escalade did not switch to the GMT820 platform until February 2001 for 2002, as it was the last of the three General Motors trucks and SUVs to switch to the new platform.

In 2004, all Escalade models except the EXT came standard with XM satellite radio, second-row seating, and a tire pressure monitoring system. A Platinum version of the Escalade ESV was also introduced in 2004. It features the first factory-fitted 20-inch chrome wheels in the luxury segment, a slightly lowered suspension, and heated and cooled seats. It also features heated and cooled cupholders, a sunroof, and a slate instrument panel. The interior features slate-colored leather upholstery, pleated door panels, a chrome grille, and a 345-hp V-8 engine as standard. The driver information center has been moved from a separate module on the dashboard to a tachometer display in the instrument panel, where the instrument panel has also been modified to accommodate a larger tachometer dial. XM satellite radio is available. OnStar telematics system controls have been moved from the dash to the electrochromic rearview mirror.
Production of the updated Escalade began in January 2006 at the Arlington plant, starting with the most expensive AWD version, followed by the long-wheelbase ESV and EXT vans. The Escalade featured an aluminum Vortec V8 engine. This tappet engine had variable valve timing and was the first production engine without an overhead camshaft. The system adjusted the intake and exhaust valve timing between the two settings. The Northeast accounts for 60% of Escalade sales. The 2013 Cadillac Escalade came standard with tri-zone climate control, Nuance leather seats, and a wood and leather steering wheel with audio controls. New color options, Coast Silver Metallic and Sapphire Blue Metallic, and revised brake specifications have been introduced for 2013. Cadillac unveiled the fourth-generation Escalade and Escalade ESV at an event in New York on October 7, 2013, nearly a month after GM introduced a new generation of SUVs from Chevrolet and GMC. Cadillac launched its campaign for the Escalade on August 14, 2013.
