The Yugo GVS used a primitive carbureted engine. The emission system employed a traditional two-way catalytic converter with an air pump and exhaust gas recirculation. In 1990, the 1300-cc engine took place of the 1100-cc one. The four-speed manual was replaced by a five-speed manual or a Renault-designed three-speed automatic. The car also received other upgrades in the parts and accessories throughout its production, such as more comfortable seating, square side signals, and redesigned instrument cluster.
The vehicles were quite controversial. But the GVS was an important achievement in Yugoslavian countries thanks to its reliability and cheap price. The drivers can find the aftermarket parts for the Yugo GVS in the online shops. They can restore the car to a better condition with respectable OEM parts. There are also accessories available in online stores for the owners to customize their cars.
