When the xD went out of production, and Scion replaced it with the xA in 2008. It is a compact crossover SUV sold in the United States and Canada. The four-door xD has a unique design with many customization parts options. Benefits include more headroom, a more comfortable entry and exit, and more headroom and legroom than B-segment/all compact hatchbacks.

In 2008, all Scion xD featured six speakers and iPod connectivity as standard. The radio supports MP3, WMA, and AAC CDs, with parts like Scion echo options and orange backlighting. A navigation system is also available. In addition to basic GPS and system functions, the SNS 100 can also play DVDs. For the year 2010, consumers may choose between two brand-new head units that were produced by Alpine. The interior has also been improved with a USB port and an AUX connector on the driver's side. In previous models, the xD had two separate inputs on each side.

The 2ZR-FE DOHC 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine is standard equipment for the front-wheel-drive xD model.
