About Scion xB
The Scion xB is a compact or a subcompact car made by Scion for the United States market, which is a now-defunct fully owned division of Toyota. Normally the model is a box-shaped, 5-door hatchback. The vehicle lasted from June 2003 to December 2015, with a total of two generations and an array of variants. In North America, it was then succeeded by the Scion iM in 2016 and was rebranded in 2017.
The first-generation Scion xB was a lightly modified and rebadged version of a subcompact model named Toyota bB. The hatchback was based on the Echo or Yaris platform and was one of the two models in the lineup of the brand's US-exclusive division present at the 2003 launch. Compared to the predecessor, the Scion xB shifted from right- to left-hand drive, and the front passenger area was also changed significantly, such as the front bench seat changed to bucket seats and the column-mounted shifter to a floor-mounted shifter. The model went on sale in June 2003, and in the next four years, a "Release Series" model was released annually with certain units produced. Its safety ranked a "Good". The xB was Scion's most popular model in the United States until 2011, after which replaced by the tC.

The second-generation Scion xB was based on a completely different platform called the New MC. It was unveiled at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show with a less boxy shape and a larger size of 167.3 inches in length, 69.3 inches in width, and 63.4 inches in height. It was produced in Japan but was suspended from 14 March 2011 to 18 April 2011 due to the earthquake. The "Good" safety ranking was kept and the vehicle received changes respectively in 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015, and was finally replaced by the iM in April 2015 for the 2016 model year.
