About Scion iQ
The Scion iQ is Toyota's city car sold in North America. Designed by Toyota's European design and development studio in Nice, France, the IQ is known for its use of special technologies to maximize passenger space and minimize length. It seats four passengers. The name iQ comes from the first letter of the word "intelligence quotient." The letters iQ also stand for "individuality," "innovation," and "quality." They refer to the cubic shape and encourage owners to embrace new types of cars and lifestyles.
Although sales of the compact car began in Europe in 2009, it did not reach North America until 2011. To shorten the length, Toyota had to move the wheels and suspension slightly to the corners and place the 8.5-gallon fuel tank under the driver's seat. The Supermini is a 3+1 seater model. With the passenger seat in the second row, the trunk is only 3.5 cubic meters. Other storage parts in the Scion iQ include four 25-pound garbage cans in the doors, a cup holder in the center and two cup holders in the rear console.

The Scion iQ design focuses on how well it handles, how little damage it does to the environment, and how much space it has inside. Because of six design choices, the car has a small overhang, a windshield that faces forward, a large cabin, and a small overall size. The new differential and other parts are mounted further forward than usual. It has rear shock absorbers to reduce intrusion at the rear of the cab. Behind the asymmetrical instrument panel is a smaller system for heating and cooling the whole car. On the iQ, parts like the cover for the differential are in front of the engine, not behind it. The motor that starts the car is built into the steering wheel.
Sales of the Scion iQ in Europe reached 44,282 units in 2009 and then gradually declined to less than 1,000 units in 2015. Since the Scion iQ was made to be a luxury space car, it may give the impression that "bigger is better." With premium parts, better sound insulation and a comfortable ride, this small car offer much more than its competitors. The Scion iQ is the world's smallest four-seater and uses many innovative solutions to overcome the disadvantages of superminis. Modern, efficient and fun, it is the perfect expression of urban lifestyle and personal mobility. It has features that impress on the road.
