About Saturn SC2
Being one of the compact car family of General Motor's Saturn S series, the Saturn SC2 was the popular coupe among all other sedan models or wagon models. Saturn adopted a whole self-developed Z platform for the production of its S series vehicles. The uniqueness and originality of the platform made the Saturn SC2 share little with other GM model lines. The S series vehicles were produced and marketed in 1990 for the 1991 model year. It had a lifespan of 12 years when the assembly lines were shut down in 2002 to make way for the Saturn Ion. The new model was designed for the 2003 model year.
Ever since its debut, the S series has gone through minor changes in design and structure. The engine parts of the Saturn SC2 were a DOHC LL0 version of the Saturn 1.9L one. Saturn not only used the original platform on the series but also completely self-developed engines. As being the renamed version of the Saturn SC, the Saturn SC2 inherited the initial engine that could produce 123 horsepower. the transmission of the Saturn SC2 was either an MP3 manual transmission or an MP7 automatic transmission. the MP2 manual transmission was out of consideration due to performance and fuel-saving reasons.

A recalibrated automatic transmission was given to the Saturn SC2 in 1993 along with revised power door locks. The lower front bumper and the taillights also received an upgrade in 1995. The Saturn SC2 was able to have a look with more curves as the whole S series of the Saturn was unified for a standard wheelbase. This change also gave the model more interior space. Further facelift was installed with the improvement in front fenders and door panels. A powertrain control module and a Body control module were added to the vehicle in 2000.
The Saturn SC2's regular maintenance is necessary for car owners. If any replacement is needed during the check or repair, the OEM Saturn SC2 parts are strongly recommended. They can be found in online wholesale shops, and can also be ordered online for use.
