About Porsche Cayman
The Porsche Cayman is a 2-door fastback coupe with 2 seats manufactured and marketed by the German automobile company since 2005. It has a mid-engine rear-wheel-drive layout. It was derived from the Porsche Boxster model's second and third generations. The assembly lines for the automobile were in Finland with the collaboration of the Valmet Automotive company. The production lines were moved back to Germany in Osnabruck after 2012. The name of the vehicle came from one of the alligators. The company adopted 4 caimans at Wilhelma Zoo in Stuttgart, Germany as the model was released to the market.
The Porsche Cayman S fastback coupe was released first as the base level followed in 2006. It shared the mid-engine platform with the upgraded second-generation Boxster. Other sharing parts and accessories from the exterior included front fenders, doors, the trunk lid, headlights, and taillights. The interior shared the forward portion. The hatchback body type of Cayman enables access to the luggage areas on the top and in the back of the engine cover. The Cayman S was given a 3.4L flat 6-cylinder engine with other parts like a 6-speed manual transaxle. The base trim level was given a 2.7L engine with a 5-speed transmission as the standard parts for the powering system. Customers for both levels could also choose a 5-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission to match their drivetrain. In 2009, the car had a facelift. The base Cayman had a boost for its performance by having a 2.9L new engine. The Cayman S had a direct injection system.

The second generation of the Porsche Cayman debuted at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It was also known for using the 981 models as the basis. The new base version was provided with a 2.7L engine while the S trim level was provided with a 3.4L one. They were matched with parts and accessories including transmissions of either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed PDK transmission. The vehicle also received a new body with matching parts and accessories. It was given a longer wheelbase, a wider front track, a redesigned interior with matching accessories, and electric steering. The Porsche Cayman of this generation was awarded as one of the best handling sports cars at any price due to its mid-engine layout and driving dynamics.
The third generation of the Porsche Cayman was released in 2016. The name for the vehicle was changed to Porsche 718 Cayman. The base models had two new horizontally opposed flat 4-cylinder turbocharged engines in 2.0L and 2.5L types. This adaption in the powering system parts allowed the vehicle to increase in torque and horsepower and decrease fuel consumption. The standard parts and accessories remained similar to their predecessors but were also improved for better performance and quality.
