About Plymouth Prowler
The Plymouth Prowler is a vintage-style production car. It was built and sold by Chrysler between 1997 and 2002. The distinguishing feature of this car is the aluminum construction. In many cases, it is primarily glued together on the chassis. The body was manufactured in Shadyside, Ohio. And the car was hand-assembled at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant (CAAP) in Detroit, Michigan. It is equipped with many features. After the Plymouth brand was discontinued in 2001, it was sold as the Chrysler Prowler for the 2001 and 2002 model years. The Prowler was the last Plymouth to be sold in Canada.
The Prowler was offered in a front-engine, rear-drive, rear-transmission configuration in a single generation. The model has a total production run of 11,702 units. One of the car's most striking design features was the open IndyCar-style front wheels. The Prowler is equipped with the LH-cars powertrain. It is also equipped with a 24-valve, 3.5 L SOHC V6 engine. It produced 214 hp (160 kW; 217 hp) at 5850 rpm. For the 1999 model year, this engine was replaced with a more powerful aluminum one. It produces 253 hp (189 kW; 257 PS) at 6400 rpm. Both engines are connected to a four-speed Autostick automatic transmission. The transmission is located at the rear of the vehicle. And it is connected to the engine via a torque tube that rotates at engine speed. The Prowler is the first rear-wheel drive Plymouth since the Plymouth Gran Fury ceased production in 1989. It would be the last Plymouth model to feature this layout. Although criticized for having only a V6 engine, as it did not produce as much torque as the V8, the Prowler's light weight helped achieve fast off-line acceleration.
