Window Motor

The window motor is a component that is in the door panel. It delivers power to your window regulator. The power delivered to the window regulator allows the window to roll up and down. The process is started by pressing on the window switch which sends a current through the system.

The window motor is useful for daily driving as it gives you the option of opening and closing the window whenever you want. So when it is a hot summer day, you can lower the window to allow fresh air into the vehicle. Keeping yourself dry from the rain is important, and being able to roll the window up is key to protecting the driver.

Older vehicles required the user to manually roll the window up and down. Modern vehicles use the same method but it activates the windows using the ECU. New systems that are also starting to come out have features that control the windows with a key fob.

Common issues with a bad window motor

A bad window motor can lead to the window moving extremely slowly, the window stops working, or it goes in the wrong direction.
