The vacuum pump is an important part in vehicle especially the ones that come with a direct injection, or turbo engine. The vacuum pumps are used for many reasons like the emissions regulation, HVAC control, and as a backup actuator.
Vacuum pump functionThe vacuum pump is used in vehicle where the intake manifold does not have enough vacuum pull. The vacuum pumps are usually located on the cylinder head, and controlled by the camshaft. Most vacuum operated systems use the manifold vacuum that is accompanied by the combustion engines.
HVAC system controlThe HVAC uses the vacuum motor to control the temperature and the amount of air that flows into the cabin. The vacuum is linked to the reservoir, and is connected to the control panel of the dashboard. So when the user selects the desired temperature and the air flow, the vacuum motor directs air flow to the floor, vents, and defroster.
A common issue with a faulty Vacuum pumpA faulty vacuum pump can lead the vehicle to have poor fuel economy, braking may become more difficult, and the HVAC system will stop working.
