The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is an electronic device that checks the air pressure in your tires. There is also a TPMS service kit that has parts that can help the user repair or replace the monitoring system.
TPMS operationAny vehicle that is made after 2007 comes installed with a TPMS. The TPMS is composed of a valve stem, pressure sensor, and wireless transmitter. The system monitors the air pressure and lets the user know when the tires are low on air. There are also two types of systems the direct and the indirect. The direct is commonly used and it has a sensor in each wheel to send information to the vehicle's receiver. While the indirect TPMS dictates the pressure by estimating the rotational speed of the tire.
