The strut mount has a strut attached to the vehicle's chassis. The component serves two functions which are to cover the strut from the car and move like a steering pivot.
Strut mount notionThe strut mount is often overlooked since they are mostly known for attachment points, but they offer more like insulation. Insulation covers the vehicle from vibration and road shock, and it is usually composed of rubber fused with metal. The strut mount connects to the vehicle frame and they help keep the strut in place to absorb any bumps along the road. Also, the rubber is there to protect the strut and body from making any metal-to-metal contact.
Common issues with a worn strut mountA worn strut mount can lead to popping noises when steering, the steering wheel may jerk too, and some can show excessive corrosion.
