A muffler is a device in which helps silence the vehicle's exhaust noise produced from the engine. It comes in different designs and sizes, although they all work the same. It reduces the noise due to the fact that large burst of burnt gases are produced by the engine ignition.
Muffler buildThe muffler is made to reduce the loudness of the sound pressure which the engine generates. Especially when the hot exhaust gas has to exit the engine at high speeds which all that sound is canceled out by the different passages of the resonator chambers.
Some aftermarket mufflers claim to increase engine performance and reduce fuel consumption. But it cost the driver to deal with more noise due to the back-pressure reduction.
Common issues with a mufflerA bad muffler can lead to loud noises, poor fuel economy, and a bad smell.
