The headlights are the lights that are installed in front of your vehicle, and the purpose is to make the road visible while driving in the dark. The lights also help other drivers see oncoming traffic in front of them. There are various lights that help illuminate the road like the Halogen, LED, and Xenon headlights.
Regulations and requirementsThe headlamps function electrically come paired with a single or double headlight on each side of the car. It is equipped with low and high beams, while the low beams are stricter when it comes to control of upward light it mainly directs the light downward. The high beams have little to no control over the upward light.
Low beams give the user a distribution of light that is made to provide lateral illumination. It allows the road to be more visible in the dark where the naked eye would not be able to see without the light. The thing about the low beam is that it has a limitation to where the light is directed, so other road users won't be affected unless they are ahead or coming towards you.
High beams aren't meant to be used like low beams since they provide a bright light with no sort of control of where it is being directed. There are only to be used when the road is empty or weather conditions are present, other than that they will blind other drivers on the road.
Light sourcesThere are many light sources such as the halogen, LED, and xenon which all get the job done when it comes to illuminating. Halogens have a distinct look since they have a sphere like bulb, and they also emit more light without draining the power. LED are more popular in modern vehicles since they provide lower power consumption, durable, and improve visibility.
Common issues with a headlightA faulty headlight can lead to dim headlights, flickering, and they can become cloudy over time due to the sun.
