Driveshaft

The driveshaft generates power and torque from the engine and transfers it to different components in the vehicle. These driveshaft are prone to stress and rotation load, which requires it to be strong. Also, due to space and distance of some vehicles, there is a need for two driveshaft.

Automotive drive shaft

A vehicle has different shafts depending on the use, like a longitude shaft generates power from the engine before reaching the wheels. While a shorter drive shaft generates the power from the transmission or central differential. Many vehicles have a clutch and transmission directly on the engine, but other models like the Porsche has it located on the back of the engine.

There are many different types of drive shaft line the one-piece, two piece, and slip-in tube drive shaft. The new and improved slip-in-tube has been developed to absorb energy in case of an accident which will reduce the risk of harm being done.

PTO drive shafts and all-wheel drive

Generating power from an engine can come from different methods like PTO and other equipment. Even though all this technology is available, the drive shaft is when there is little to no space.

The transfer case is a new form of the gearbox, which split the drive into two axles. A more modern light car may have the same build as the front wheel drive, which is more popular because the power goes to the front wheel.
