The airbox also known as the air filter box forms part of the air intake system that protects the air filter.
Air filter box conceptThe air filter box is a vacant chamber on the inlet of most combustion engines. You can gain access to it from the inside of the engine section. The component is easy to distinguish since it is a plastic box in front of the engine. The airbox is responsible for drawing in air from the outside and feeding it to the intake hoses of every cylinder. New vehicles avoid having an extra manifold by drawing into the airbox which is connected by individual hoses to each carburetor.
Common issues with a faulty air filter boxA faulty air box can lead to stalling, a decline in engine performance, and rough idling.
