FAQ for A/C Evaporator Core Repair

Q: Evaporator: How to service the A/C and avoid wet carpets?
A:
Awet carpet is caused by a plugged HVAC evaporator drain tube. A plugged drain tube will cause all water to be pushed into the dashboard of the vehicle resulting in it being disposed of in the interior of the vehicle.

Q: How do you check the tube after servicing it?
A:
To check the drain tube, you will need to allow the vehicle to run for some time with the A/C on. Throughout that time it is running, inspect that the water is draining properly and not making its way back into the vehicle.

Q: How can a leaking drain tube be fixed?
A:
You must first jack up the vehicle and inspect the drain tube to ensure no debris or items are plugging up the drain. Secondly, you must reposition the heat shield so it is out of the way of the drain tube. Remove the black cap and white plug to make sure there is no debris stuck in the tube coming from the dashboard and reinstall the plug once the tube has been checked. Lastly, apply high-tech seam sealer to the plug and reposition the heat shield back to where it initially was.
