07/10/2021 Q: How do you service the propeller shaft in a rear-wheel drive vehicle?
A:
Put the transmission into neutral and raise the vehicle so you can locate the propeller shaft coupler and remove the exhaust. Remove the 3 bolts from the flange to the shaft and install the new coupler with the bolts. Remove the 3 bolts from the coupler to the transmission flange and replace them with a new flange. Tighten all bolts to 63 ft./lbs.

Put the transmission into neutral and raise the vehicle so you can locate the propeller shaft coupler. Remove the 3 bolts and install the new coupler with the bolts tightening them to 63 ft./lbs.

A:
Remove the front wheel hub and bearing and install the washer on the front of the front wheel driveshaft. A new drive shaft nut will need to be installed as they are not reusable once removed. If the vehicle has already come equipped with a washer, you can simply remove it and replace it with a new washer.
