The procedure is to raise and support the vehicle, remove the tire and wheel and the outer tie rod stud retaining nut, loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod, disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle, and remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod.

Q: How do you remove the steering linkage inner tie rod?
A:
You need to raise and suitably support the vehicle, remove the tire and wheel and the outer tie rod, loosen the inner tie rod to the relay rod retaining nut, remove the inner tie rod to the relay rod retaining nut and the inner tie rod from the vehicle, inspect the shaft for bent or damaged threads, and then clean the tapered surface of the steering knuckle.

Q: How do you assemble the steering linkage inner tie rod?
A:
You can apply LOCTITE(R) 262, or equivalent to the threads on the left inner tie rod, install the left inner tie rod to the rack, apply LOCTITE(R) 262, or equivalent to the threads on the right inner tie rod, install the right inner tie rod to the rack, stake both sides of the 2 female inner tie rod housings to the male rack, insert a 0.25 mm gauge between the rack and the inner tie rod housing, slide the left shock dampener over the left inner tie rod housing and the right shock dampener over the right inner tie rod housing, install the 2 steering gear boots and breather tubes to the steering gear and the steering gear to the vehicle.

A:
You can remove the steering gear from the vehicle and the 2 steering gear boots and breather tubes from the steering gear, place the steering gear in a vise, slide the left shock dampener from the left inner tie rod housing to the rack, rotate the left inner tie rod housing counterclockwise, slide the right shock dampener from the right inner tie rod housing to the rack, rotate the right inner tie rod housing counterclockwise, and then remove the old LOCTITE(R) from the threads on the inner tie rod and the threads on the rack.
