2010 Chevrolet Equinox CV Joint Boot

You can install the CV joint boot and clamp, close the clamp until the gap measures 2.15 mm (0.085 in), place approximately half of the lubricant in the CV joint boot and the other half in the CV joint, install the CV joint boot and clamp, close the clamp until the gap measures 1.90 mm (0.070 in), move the CV joint in a circular motion, clean any remaining lubricant from the outside of the CV joint, install the outer CV joint and boot and install the wheel drive shaft.

You can remove the wheel drive shaft from the vehicle, clamp the drive axle shaft in a soft jawed vice, remove the boot clamp from the constant velocity (CV) joint and the boot, remove and discard the boot clamp from the boot and the wheel drive shaft, remove the CV joint and the boot and inspect the outer CV joint for damage and wear.

You can remove the wheel drive shaft, position the wheel drive shaft bar in a soft jawed vise, remove the boot retaining clamp from the boot for the tripod housing, remove the boot clamp from the boot for the wheel drive shaft, remove the tripod housing, remove the retaining clip and the tripod spider, remove the boot from the wheel drive shaft and inspect the wheel drive shaft inner joint for damage and excessive wear.

You can position the boot and the clamp on the wheel drive shaft, install the retaining ring, close the boot clamp until the gap measures 2.15 mm (0.085 in), compress the retaining ring into the groove, install the CV joint on the wheel drive shaft, place approximately half of the lubricant inside the CV boot and another half in the CV joint, remove any excess lubricant on the CV joint housing or the boot, close the boot clamp until the gap measures 1.9 mm (0.070 in), move the CV joint in a circular motion 4 to 5 times, remove the wheel drive shaft from the vise and install the wheel drive shaft.

You can position the boot on the wheel drive shaft, install the tripod spider assembly, install the retaining ring, place approximately half of the grease in the kit to the seal, place the remainder in the tripod housing, install the tripod housing, install the boot clamps on the boot for the tripod housing and the wheel drive, close the boot clamp until the gap measures 2.15 mm (0.085 in), close the clamp until the gap measures 1.9 mm (0.070 in), rotate the housing in a circular motion and then install the wheel drive shaft from the vehicle.
