FAQ for Hood Release Cable Repair

Q: How do I install the primary latch release cable?
A:
Tap the feeder wire onto the end of the new cable, then use the wire to pull the cable through the cowl grommet into the engine compartment, install the cable through the hole in the panel, remove the wire from the cable, and install the cable onto the bracket. Install the carpet retainer and connect the cable to the latch, and test for proper function.

Q: How do I remove the hood primary latch release cable?
A:
After raising the hood, remove the release cable from the latch, mark the routing for reinstalling, tape the wire to the end of the latch, remove the left front carpet retainer from inside, slide the handle to the side, now pull the cable through the front of the dashboard.
