The procedure is to make an indentation 10 mm (0.4 in) from the bottom of the tube using a centerpunch, clamp the shock absorber in a vise horizontally with the shock absorber rod completely extended, drill a hole in the shock absorber at the centerpunch using a 5 mm (3/16 in) drill bit, make an indentation in the middle of the tube with a centerpunch, drill a second hole in the shock absorber at the centerpunch using a 5 mm (3/16 in) drill bit, and then remove the shock absorber from the vise.

The procedure is to position the shock absorber in the upper retaining bracket of the CH-48845 so the shock absorber will be centered, compress the front spring, hold the shock absorber shaft, remove and discard the shock absorber nut, remove the front lower shock absorber and the front spring lower insulator, and then remove the front suspension strut mount, front spring upper seat, front suspension strut bumper, front spring upper insulator, and the front suspension spring from the spring compressor.
