First, you need to remove the wheel and the tire, the brake caliper and bracket, the brake rotor, and the park brake cable from the park brake lever. Then, please slide the park brake shoe down until it is disengaged from the hold-down spring, lift the shoe away from the backing plate and slide the shoe up, off of the actuation mechanism, and remove the shoe over the axle flange and from the vehicle. You also need to clean the debris and the dust from the park brake components, turn the adjustment screw to the full home position in the notched adjustment nut, then back it off 1/4 turn, and align the slots in both the adjusting screw and tappet to be parallel with the backing plate face. Finally, you should use denatured alcohol to clean the rear backing plate of dirt and foreign materials and use non-lubricated, filtered air to dry the backing plate.
