A:
You need to install the steering shaft coupling to the vehicle, the steering shaft coupling nut and bolt at the upper intermediate steering shaft, the steering shaft coupling bolt at the steering gear and the engine shield, and remove the J 42640-anti-rotation pin from the steering column lower access hole.

You need to release the plastic retaining tabs and slide the steering shaft lower bearing out of the steering column.

Q: What should I install onto the steering column shaft assembly?
A:
You need to lubricate the steering shaft upper bearing inner race with GM P/N 12345718 (Canadian P/N 10953516), install the steering shaft upper bearing inner race, the steering shaft upper bearing inner race seat, and the steering shaft upper bearing spring, lubricate the turn signal switch cancel cam with GM P/N 12377900 (Canadian P/N 10953529) and install the turn signal switch cancel cam and the turn signal switch cancel cam position plate.

Q: How do you remove the Steering Shaft Coupling?
A:
You need to set the front wheels in the straight-ahead position, install the J 42640-anti-rotation pin in the steering column lower access hole, remove the engine shield, mark the relationships of the steering shaft coupling, the upper intermediate steering shaft, and the power steering gear, remove the steering shaft coupling bolt at the steering gear, the steering shaft coupling nut and bolt at the upper intermediate steering shaft and the steering shaft coupling from the vehicle.
