2009 Chevrolet Tahoe Axle Bearing

You need to lubricate the outer wheel bearing, the inner wheel bearing, the outer wheel bearing cup, the inner wheel bearing cup, and the axle hub spindle.

You need to install the rear wheel speed sensor reluctor ring. Using the J 23690 installer and the J 8092 driver, install the axle shaft bearing. Using the J 21128 installer, install the axle shaft seal. Then you can drive the tool into the bore until the axle shaft seal bottoms flush with the tube, install the rear axle shaft, the rear axle housing cover and the tire and wheel assembly, fill the rear axle and remove the support and lower the vehicle.

You need to remove the axle shaft, the hub adjuster nut retaining ring, and the adjuster nut lock key, tighten the wheel bearing adjusting nut using the J 2222-C, rotate the hub in the opposite direction to the way the adjuster nut is turning, and ensure the inner bearing and the seal seats against the spindle shoulder. Then you can turn the adjusting nut counterclockwise until the nut is loose using the J 2222-C, and turn the adjusting nut clockwise until the nut contacts the bearing cone, torque on the nut must be zero to finger tight, insert the adjusting nut lock key into the keyway, install the retaining ring and the axle shaft and inspect the lubricant level and add.

You need to remove the tire and wheel assembly, the rear axle housing cover, and the axle shaft. Using the J 44685-remover and the J 2619-01-hammer, remove the rear axle shaft seal. Using the J 45857-remover and the J 2619-01-hammer, remove the rear axle shaft seal, bearing, and the wheel speed sensor reluctor ring.

You will be needing a wheel bearing nut wrench, a universal driver handle-3/4 X 10 inch, an outer wheel bearing race installer, an inner wheel bearing race installer, a hub bearing installer, and a differential bearing installer.
