FAQ for Differential Bearing Repair
Q: What should be noticed in removing the Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft Seal and Inner Shaft Bearing?
A:
If only replacing the left side seal, you should place an alignment mark between the inner axle shaft and the wheel drive shaft. If servicing the 8.25-inch axle, you should remove the shock module. Then you should disconnect the wheel drive shaft from the inner axle shaft, remove the inner axle shaft using a hammer and a brass drift and remove the inner axle shaft seal using a suitable seal remover tool.

Q: What should be noticed in installing the Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft Seal and Inner Shaft Bearing?
A:
If both the left side bearing and the seal was removed, you should install the new axle shaft seal using the J 45225 and the J 8092. If both the left side bearing and the seal was removed, you should install the inner axle shaft into the differential case side gear using a soft-faced mallet until the retaining ring on the inner axle shaft is fully seated within the groove in the differential case side gear, and pull back on the inner axle shaft to ensure that the inner axle shaft is properly retained in the differential case side gear.

FAQ for Other Repair Info
Q: What should be noticed when replacing Rear Axle Shaft?
A:
You should remove the C-lock from the button end of the Axle Shaft. When removing the axle shaft, you can not rotate the shaft. Rotating the shaft will misalign the gears. Misaligning the gears will make the installation of the axle shaft difficult. You should remove the axle shaft from the housing, and perform the following step if the axle shaft is hard to remove, using the J 2619-01-slide hammer and the J 45859-remover/installer to remove the axle shaft from the housing.
Q: What should be cautioned in replacing Wheel Drive Shaft Outer Joint and Boot?
A:
You should remove the first chrome alloy ball when the CV Joint cage tilts and tilt the CV joint cage in the opposite direction to remove the opposing chrome alloy ball.
Q: How do I install the Front Axle Lubricant?
A:
You should install the drain plug, fill the Differential carrier assembly with axle lubricant, install the fill plug, install the front differential carrier shield and lower the vehicle.
