You should remove the range selector cable heat shield bolts, the range selector cable heat shield, the range selector cable end from the transmission range selector lever stud, the retainer securing the range selector cable to the bracket, the cable clips from the floor panel reinforcement, the cable clips, the instrument panel knee bolster, the retainer securing the cable, the cable end, the range selector cable from the support, the cable grommet from the floor panel and the cable from the vehicle.

You should ensure that the steering column shift lever is in the park (P) position, ensure that the transmission manual shaft lever is in the park (P) position, grasp the shift cable shifter end, align the outside diameter of the transmission end, push the end of the transmission cable, release the transmission end and allow the spring to tension/adjust the cable system, pull the white cover, push the natural colored lock button, release the white cover and then test the transmission for proper shift operation.
