The procedure is to disable the SIR system, remove the steering column from the vehicle, remove the turn signal switch housing, remove the tilt spring, remove 2 pivot pins from the steering column support assembly, remove the boot seal and remove the sensor locator and the sensor assembly if the sensor is present.

Q: How do you install the steering wheel position sensor or steering shaft lower bearing?
A:
You can install the sensor assembly and the sensor locator if the sensor is present. Then you can install the boot seal, install the steering shaft assembly, install the tilt head assembly and the steering shaft, lubricate the pivot pins with GM P/N 12346293 (Canadian P/N 992723), install the 2 pivot pins onto the steering column support assembly, install the tilt spring assembly, install the turn signal switch housing, install the steering column to the vehicle and enable the SIR system.
