You can install the ring gear onto the differential carrier and install the 10 new ring gear bolts.

Q: How do you assemble the drive pinion?
A:
You can install the pinion head bearing onto the pinion shaft, assemble the pinion shaft, the housing, the spacer, and the bearing, press the bearing onto the pinion shaft, lubricate the outer diameter of the seal with axle lube, install a new pinion seal, install the pinion flange onto the shaft, apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to clean the threads of the pinion nut, install the pinion flange nut and remove J 45012.

You can remove the 10 ring gear bolts and the ring gear, remove the left side bearing and remove the right side bearing.

Q: How do you disassemble the drive pinion?
A:
You can remove the pinion flange nut, remove the pinion flange from the shaft, place the pinion cage into a press, remove the pinion shaft and bearing from the cage, remove the spacer from the pinion shaft, install the J 22912-B onto the pinion shaft, remove the bearing from the shaft, install the J 45006, press the bearing from the pinion shaft and remove the pinion oil seal and the pinion bearing from the bearing cage.

Q: What is the recommended torque when you install the 10 new ring gear bolts?
A:
You can tighten the 10-ring gear bolts slowly in a criss-cross pattern to 190 Nm (140 lb-ft).
