You can remove the automatic transmission flexplate, the oil pan-to-rear oil seal housing bolts, the rear oil seal housing bolts, the rear oil seal housing and gasket, and the rear oil seal.

The required tool is the J 41476 Front and Rear Cover Alignment Tool.

01/11/2022Q: How do you install the Engine Rear Cover?
A:
You can apply a 5 mm (0.2 in) bead of sealant, 20 mm (0.8 in) long to the oil pan to the engine block junction, position a NEW rear oil seal housing gasket and the housing to the engine, install the rear oil seal housing bolts, install the oil pan-to-rear oil seal housing bolts, rotate the crankshaft, install the J 41476 and bolts onto the rear of the crankshaft, remove the J 41476, install a NEW crankshaft rear oil seal and remove the automatic transmission flexplate.
