2008 Cadillac SRX Brake Caliper

You should inspect the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir, raise and support the vehicle, remove the tire and wheel assembly, install a large C-clamp over the body of the brake caliper, tighten the C-clamp until the caliper piston is compressed into the caliper bore enough to allow the caliper to slide past the brake rotor, remove the C-clamp from the caliper, the brake hose to caliper bolt attaching the brake hose to the brake caliper, the brake hose from the brake caliper and the two copper brake hose gaskets, plug the opening in the brake caliper and the brake hose and remove the brake caliper pin bolts and the brake caliper from the brake caliper bracket.

You should install the valve stem seal over the threaded end of the bleeder valve, the brake caliper bleeder valve, and the brake caliper bleeder valve cap, lubricate the new piston seals with Eelco supreme 11(R), GM P/N 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667), install lubricated piston seals into the brake caliper bore seal grooves, make sure the seals are not twisted, install the piston dust boot over the end of the piston, seat the caliper dust boot into the brake caliper bore groove, slide the piston into the brake caliper bore, carefully push the piston to the bottom of the brake caliper bore, ensure that the caliper dust boot is properly seated into the piston groove and the groove in the brake caliper bore, repeat for the remaining piston and install the brake caliper to the vehicle.

You should install the brake caliper bracket, thoroughly clean the residue from the bolt threads by using denatured alcohol or equivalent and the residue from the threaded holes by using denatured alcohol or equivalent, apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 (Canada P/N 10953488), or equivalent to 2/3 of the threaded length of the lower caliper bracket bolts, allow the threadlocker to cure approximately 10 minutes and install the brake caliper bracket bolts, the brake pad retainers to the brake caliper bracket, the brake pads to the brake caliper bracket and the brake caliper.

You should inspect the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir, raise and support the vehicle, remove the tire and wheel assembly, and install a large C-clamp over the body of the brake caliper with the C-clamp ends against the rear of the caliper body and the outer brake pad, tighten the C-clamp until the caliper piston is compressed into the caliper bore enough, remove the C-clamp from the caliper, the brake hose to caliper bolt attaching the brake hose to the brake caliper, the brake hose from the brake caliper and the 2 copper brake hose gaskets, plug the opening in the brake caliper and the brake hose to prevent fluid loss and contamination and remove the brake caliper pin bolts and the brake caliper from the brake caliper bracket.

You should remove the brake caliper from the brake caliper bracket, support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic's wire, or equivalent, remove the brake pads from the brake caliper bracket, the brake pad retainers from the brake caliper bracket, the brake caliper guide pins, the brake caliper pin boots from the brake caliper mounting bracket, the brake caliper bracket mounting bolts and the brake caliper bracket from the knuckle, inspect the brake caliper bracket and replace the brake caliper bracket if cracked or damaged.
