FAQ for Automatic Transmission Oil Pan Repair

Q: How to replace the Automatic Transmission Fluid, Fluid Pan, and/or Filter?
A:
You should raise and support the vehicle, place a suitable drain pan under the transmission, tighten the bolts in the sequence shown, check the condition of the draining fluid, fill the transmission with the proper fluid and the transmission with the proper amount of transmission fluid, make sure that the fluid pan gasket is reusable, pull the fluid filter assembly straight out, use a new fluid filter assembly, a screwdriver or snap ring pliers to remove the filter seal, the DT 47848 and the J 42183 to install the filter seal and lubricate the filter seal with transmission fluid before installing the filter.
