A:
The procedure is to clamp the strut in a vise horizontally with the rod completely extended, drill a hole in the strut at the center of the end cap using a 5 mm drill bit, remove the strut from the vise, hold the strut over a drain pan vertically with the hole down, then move the rod in and out of the tube to completely drain the oil from the strut.

You will need to remove the upper strut mounting bolts, raise and support the vehicle, then remove the tire and wheel, disconnect the wheel speed sensor wiring harness, remove the wheel speed sensor bracket from the strut, remove the brake line bracket mounting bolt and bracket from the strut, remove the strut to steering knuckle bolts and nuts, then remove the strut.

You may need to install the coil spring and upper strut mount to the J 45400, turn the spring compressor forcing screw until the coil spring is compressed, install the strut to the coil spring and upper strut mount, loosely install the strut retaining nut, use a 45 TORX(R) socket to hold the strut shaft and use the J-35669 to install the upper strut mount nut, then tighten the strut mount nut to 85 N.m (63 lb-ft), remove the strut from the J 45400 and install the strut.
