Q: How to conduct tests for a short to ground in a circuit with a DMM?
A:
First, you should remove the power feed from the suspect circuit and disconnect the load. Then, please set the rotary dial of the DMM to the ohm position. You also need to connect one lead of the DMM to one end of the circuit to be tested while connecting the other lead of the DMM to good ground. If the DMM does NOT display infinite resistance (OL), there is a short to ground in the circuit.

Q: How to remove the JST Connectors?
A:
While depressing the lock, you should remove the connector from the component. Then, you need to locate the two indents of the terminal position assurance (TPA) located on the bottom of the connector body. Then, please use a small flat-blade tool to very carefully raise the TPA on both sides of the connector, use the J 38125-12A tool to release the terminals by inserting the tool into the left side of the terminal release cavity as shown in the graphic and use the tool to move the terminal release to the right with a gentle prying motion. While holding the removal tool in place, you should gently pull the wire out of the back of the connector.

Q: How to conduct tests for a short to ground in circuit with a Test Lamp?
A:
First, you should remove the power feed from the suspect circuit and disconnect the load. Then, please connect one lead of the test lamp to the battery positive voltage and connect the other lead of the test lamp to one end of the circuit to be tested. Q: How to test for a short to voltage in a circuit?
A:
First, you need to set the rotary dial of the DMM to the V (DC) position. Then, please connect the positive lead of the DMM to one end of the circuit to be tested and connect the negative lead of the DMM to good ground. Finally, you should turn ON the ignition and operate all accessories. If the voltage measured is greater than 1 volt, there is a short voltage in the circuit.

Q: How to conduct tests for a short to ground in a circuit if the Fuse Powering Several Loads?
A:
First, you should review the system schematic and locate the open fuse. Then, please open the first connector or switch leading from the fuse to each load. You can connect a DMM across the fuse terminals. When the DMM displays voltage the short is in the wiring leading to the first connector or switch. If the DMM does not display voltage, you can close each connector or switch until the DMM displays voltage to find which circuit is shorted.
