2008 Buick Lucerne Shock Absorber

Clamp the strut in a vise horizontally with the rod and drill a hole in the strut at the center of the end cap. Remove the strut from the vise and hold the strut over a drain pan vertically with the hole down. Next, move the rod in and out of the tube to completely drain the oil from the strut.

Install the strut to the vehicle, install the strut mount to the body retaining bolts, and tighten the strut mount to the body bolts. Next, install the steering knuckle bolts/nuts and tighten the strut to knuckle nuts to 147 Nm. Connect the brake line and the retaining nut to the strut. Make sure to tighten the brake line and the speed sensor bracket bolts to 17 Nm. Finally, connect the ABS front wheel speed sensor harness connector and install the tire/wheel.

First, install the coil spring and upper strut mount to the J 45400 and turn the spring compressor forcing screw until the coil spring is compressed. Next, install the strut to the coil spring and upper strut mount. Install the retaining nut and tighten the strut mount nut to 75 Nm.

First install the shock, reinforcement, and retaining nuts and tighten the upper shock absorber retaining nuts to 25 Nm. Install the upper shock absorber cover and the trunk trim. Install the lower shock absorber retaining bolts, tighten the lower shock absorber retaining bolts to 25 Nm, and connect the automatic level control air tube to the shock.
