FAQ for Brake Light Switches Repair

Q: What is the proper way to install the stop lamp switch?
A:
You should install the switch retainer, position the switch near the bracket, and ensure the switch key-way is properly indexed to the plastic retainer, then install and adjust the switch, connect the stop lamp switch electrical connectors, and finally check the switch for proper operation.

Q: How to adjust the stop lamp switch?
A:
You need to rotate the switch counterclockwise, allowing the retainer to release, then pull the brake pedal rearward to a full stop, and push the switch inward fully until the switch body contacts the brake pedal arm striker plate, then rotate the switch clockwise until a °click° is heard. The switch is properly adjusted when there is a 7 mm (0.028 in) clearance between the end of the switch barrel and the striker plate on the brake pedal arm.
